This week’s Athlete of the week is Michael Edwards-Gonzales a Castro Valley fourth-grader who just finished up her soccer season as a goalie for the Castro Valley Soccer League’s U10 Girls D4 Hornets.  Although, she plays other positions, she recently played goalie against the first place “Flaming Pumas” where she caught, blocked, and kicked away any potential goals, shutting out the Puma’s high-powered offense in a 0-0 tie.

Gonzales also plays in the Castro Valley Girls Softball League, where she has been selected as an All-Star. She plays CYO Basketball and just started playing basketball in the Baptist League. 

She is an “A” student and an avid horse rider, competing in Hunter-Jumper, English and Western Pleasure horse shows since the age of 4. She currently rides Lysa, her 21 year old Icelandic Horse.
dwards-Gonzales’ hobbies include caring for her pets. In addition to the families’ three horses, she has twelve chickens, two cats, one dog, numerous doves, canaries, lovebirds, goldfish and koi.
