LAURENZO, Barbara Evelyn
RIVERA, Elisa Muñiz
BROWN, Betty, entered into rest in the early hours of June 25th, 2012. She was born in San Francisco to Evelyn and Alfred Brown and lived in the Bay Area in her adult life. Betty’s career took her down many roads and she was a successful business person. One of Betty’s proudest achievements was obtaining her teaching credentials and working in various teaching positions for the Hayward Unified School District. Her biggest joy was playing and teaching piano. She not only taught her children how to play but the children in the neighborhood enjoyed learning from her as well. She also enjoyed playing at many retirement homes in the Hayward area. She adored her pets and had a terrific sense of humor by giving them names — the dog is known as “Funny Face,” cat’s: “Silly Ears” and “Goofy Toes.” She insisted that anyone who visited her HAD to acknowledge her “furry” children. Betty belonged to many organizations, including Order of Eastern Star, and numerous other social clubs. She was very active in the Mormon Church, specifically, Hayward 2nd Ward. She enjoyed sharing her musical talents, serving in a variety of callings, including ward chorister, relieve society pianist and ward organist. She loved to travel extensively and enjoyed many cruises and trips around the world, and shared her travels with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her two sons, Forest (Chipper) Ramos and Bill (Skipper) Ramos; grandchildren, Shaun, Vanessa and Sarah; and her cousins, Matthew and David Kangas from the state of Washington. Service is to be held on Saturday, July 7, at 11 a.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 26101 Gading Road in Hayward. In lieu of flowers, Betty wishes donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
