JURS, Doris Marie Jurs, August 2, 1925 – July 4, 2012. Loving mother, grandmother and friend, Doris was predeceased in death by her husband, Russell, and son, Fred. She is survived by her loving daughter Virginia and her partner Ella; and her granddaughter, Haley. She always greeted everyone with a kind smile and was interested in everything going on around her. She was loved by many, particularly her caregivers, Cinthia and Veronica. Doris was a selfless, spirited and strong woman, determined to enjoy life until the heavens welcomed her. She will be greatly missed and always remembered. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.



MENK, Florence “Tobi", born April 20, 1914 in Hancock, New York to Elizabeth Knight and Eugene Woodmansee, Tobi died on July 7, 2012. A long-time resident of the Castro Valley area, Tobi was predeceased by her husband, Frank Menk, and son, Raymond Tobey, Jr. She is survived by her son, James DeSilva; daughter-in-law, Donna Tobey; sister-in-law, Betty Woodmansee; grandchildren, Michael, Michelle, Sheila, Nancy, Natalie and Sean; great-grandchildren, Caedyn, Andy, Jaya, Xochitl, Sita and Byron; as well as numerous extended family. She will be deeply missed at the Kenneth C. Aitken Senior and Community Center in Castro Valley, where she was a long-time volunteer, inveterate bingo caller and avid card player (ranging from bridge to poker to pinochle to blackjack, with a little dominoes thrown in for good measure!) She will be remembered for her artistic skills, which spanned ceramics, porcelain doll-making, painting, knitting and crocheting. Her talents were many, but her ability to build and maintain lasting friendships was without peer, as was her boundless love for her family.



NOBLE, Nancy A., A native of Dundee, Scotland who lived in Castro Valley since 1949, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at age 87. Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Thursday, July 12, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward

 

TYE, Flora (Bonini), who formerly lived in Castro Valley, has passed away. A native of Eureka, Mrs. Tye had been living in Livermore. A funeral Mass was said July 9 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Livermore. Arrangements were made by the Jess C. Spencer Mortuary in Castro Valley.

 

VIVEIROS, Sara Julia, of Castro Valley, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2012, at age 78. A native of Madeira, Portugal, Mrs. Viveiros was an active member of the Portuguese community. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m., today, July 11, at Holy Angels Funeral Cremation Center, 1051 Harder Rd. Hayward. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow, July 12, at St. John’s Church, 264 E. Lewelling Blvd. San Lorenzo.
