Lena helped her father with his meat market and grocery store and learned that business well. She also learned to cook, clean and care for her brothers and sisters, at the side of her dear mother whom she loved until the end. Lena waited for Frank’s return from WWII in the South Pacific and then they were married. They relocated to San Leandro in 1954. Lena resided there until recently when she could no longer live alone. She is remembered for her wonderful Italian home cooking, never raising her voice, and continual silent strength. She loved entertaining at home, playing pinochle and chocolate cake.
