Pot Bust

Monday, August 6: at 1:07 a.m., sheriff’s deputies arrested two people on suspicion of possession of marijuana drugs. A 33-year-old woman from Union City and a 36-year-old man from Hayward were stopped in front of a home on Mabel Avenue near Salem Road when deputies arrived. During questioning, deputies discovered the drugs. The couple was taken into custody.


Selling Stolen Goods,

Fraud, Embezzlement

Sunday, August 5: at 1:48 a.m., a 57-year-old man from San Leandro was arrested on charges related to fraud and embezzlement charges. Deputies stopped the man outside Eden Medical Center on Lake Chabot Road for questioning and found him also in possession of stolen property for sale. The man was additionally charged with attempting to buy insurance from an unauthorized agent, and embezzlement. The man was taken to Santa Rita Jail and held on $25,000 bail.


Methamphetamine and

Lock-picking Equipment

Saturday, August 4: at 12:32 a.m., deputies arrested two people on drug-related charges while they were parked outside a store on Redwood Road near Castro Valley Boulevard. The driver, a 23-year-old man from Oakland was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine drugs and lock-picking equipment. The passenger, a 22-year-old woman from Oakland was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine drugs. The couple was taken to Santa Rita Jail.


He Fought the Law

Saturday, August 4: at 5:20 p.m., a 911 call about a suspicious person sent deputies to the intersection of Arcadian Drive and Mayflower Drive. There they found a man fitting the description and arrested him on suspicion of public intoxication. During the field sobriety test, the man became aggressive with the deputies and resisted arrest. He was taken to Santa Rita Jail.


Drugs in His Pocket

Friday, August 3: at 7:30 p.m., a 43-year-old man from Hayward was arrested on suspicion of possession of an illegal amount of marijuana and .78 grams of methamphetamine drugs. Deputies stopped the man on Chester St. near the Boulevard for questioning when they discovered his stash. The man was taken to Santa Rita Jail.


Over the Limit

Friday, August 3: at 6:01 p.m., deputies arrested a 55-year-old man from CV on suspicion of public intoxication. The man was walking on San Carlos Avenue near Park Way when deputies caught him stumbling along. A blood test found his alcohol content three times the legal limit. The man was taken to a sobering center.


Back to Jail

Friday, August 3: at 2:12 a.m., a 24-year-old man from Hayward was arrested on suspicion of possession of lock picking tools, possession of illegal drug paraphernalia and violating his parole. Deputies detained the man on Lake Chabot Road near Congress Way before taking him back to Santa Rita Jail.


Reckless Driving

Thursday, August 2: at 10:35 p.m., deputies pulled over and arrested a 23-year-old man from San Leandro on suspicion of reckless driving. The man was traveling on John Drive near John Court when deputies spotted him weaving in the street. The man was handcuffed and taken to Santa Rita Jail on $3,000 bail.


Out of State License Plate

Thursday, August 2: at 4:46 p.m., a 39-year-old man from Walla Walla, Washington was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Deputies pulled the man over on Foothill Boulevard at Mattox Road at the edge of Castro Valley after watching him swerving in the street. The man was taken into custody and held on $20,000 bail.


Joy Ride Ends

Wednesday, August 1: at 6:29 p.m., deputies pulled over and arrested a 26-year-old man from Castro Valley on suspicion of stealing a vehicle for a joy ride. The man was traveling on Redwood Road when deputies stopped him at the intersection of Mabel Avenue. The man was taken into custody.


Oldest Profession

Tuesday, July 31: at 4:58 p.m., a 27-year-old woman from Oakland was put under citizens’ arrest on suspicion of soliciting for sex and petty theft. A security guard apprehended the woman as she was leaving a department store on Castro Valley Boulevard. The woman had been approaching customers and tried leaving with an unspecified amount of unpaid merchandise. Deputies took the woman to Santa Rita Jail under $10,000 bail.


Domestic Dispute

Tuesday, July 31: at 12:20 p.m., a 911 call about a loud and aggressive-sounding argument sent deputies outside a home on Stanton Avenue near La Don Court. There they arrested a 49-year-old man from Castro Valley on suspicion of domestic abuse. The man was handcuffed and taken to Santa Rita Jail pending a court date.


Drugs Not on the Menu

Monday, July 30: at 9:44 p.m., deputies received a call from the manager of a Chinese restaurant on Redwood Road near Grove Way about a suspicious man behind the store. There, they arrested a 42-year-old man from Castro Valley on suspicion of possession of an illegal amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and violating his parole. The man was taken to Santa Rita Jail.


One Too Many

Monday, July 30: at 10:10 p.m., a 30-year-old man from Castro Valley was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol. Deputies stopped the man at the intersection of Castro Valley Boulevard and Grove Way. The man failed his field sobriety test and was taken into custody.


Stolen Car

Monday, July 30: at 11:39 p.m., deputies received a tip about a stolen car and investigated in front of a home on Seven Hills Road near Redwood Road. There they arrested a 27-year-old man from Castro Valley on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle. He was taken into custody.
