BARRIOS, Betty Louise, of San Leandro, passed away at Spyglass Senior Villa, in Oakley on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at age 83. Mrs. Barrios was a retired custodian at Cal State in Hayward. Prayer services will be held at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday Aug. 25, in the Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum, 26320 Mission Blvd, Hayward. Arrangements were made by Deercreek Funeral Service 510-317-7890.

CRISPIN, George Gutierrez, of San Leandro, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 19, 2012, at age 94. Raised in Sunnyvale, Mr. Crispin in the U.S. Marine Corps in1942 and was deployed as a Marine Paratrooper in the South Pacific. He retired as Regional Operations Manager from Santa Fe Railroad in 1983. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at Holy Sepulcher/Holy Angels in Hayward

HARVEY, Barbara Ann (Kelly), age 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Woodside - Nightingale Senior Residence in Castro Valley, after a long illness. She was born Nov. 29, 1935 in Janesville, Wisconsin, to Edward and Cecelia Reilly. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1953, and then attended Platteville State College. She went on to Swedish-American Hospital in Rockford, Illinois, where she received her degree as a Radiological Technician. Upon graduation from college, she moved to Oakland with friends and worked at Highland Hospital as an x-ray technician. She married Richard Harvey on June 29, 1963 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Oakland. Kelly left Highland Hospital to start a family, and shortly thereafter she and Dick moved to San Leandro and joined St. Leander Parish, where they have been members for 46 years. She was a devout Catholic, and lived her life according to God, also serving as a Eucharistic minister. She loved her friends and family, but most of all she cherished her grandchildren, whom she affectionately referred to as “Grandma’s Angel’s.” She loved being around them. Kelly is survived by her husband, Dick, of 49 years; 2 sons, Brian (Shirley) Harvey and their sons Eric and Nicholas of San Leandro, and Patrick Harvey of Hayward; 2 daughters, Karen (Todd) Williams and their daughter, Caitlin, of Janesville, Wisconsin, and Teresa (Larry) Martin and their daughter, Elizabeth, of Castro Valley; a sister, Suzette Becker; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Reilly and Harriet Reilly Schumacher; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edward, John and Pat Reilly; an infant brother, Richard; sister-in-law, Virginia Reilly; brother-in-law, Harry Becker; and niece, Catherine Reilly. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Aug. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sorensen’s Chapel, 1140 B St., in Hayward. A memorial Mass will be held Friday, Aug. 24, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leander Catholic Church in San Leandro. Her ashes will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Hayward. The family would like to thank the staff at Woodside for their patience and compassion while caring for Kelly. Arrangements made by Holy Angels Funeral & Cremation Center (FD 1456), 510-537-6600.

MADSON, James, of San Leandro, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at age 75. A native of Storm Lake, Iowa, Mr. Madson joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and later became a Teamster Truck Driver for more than 30 years. He was a member of SIRs Branch 26.

MEISSNER, Dorothy B., a long time resident of Oakland, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012 at St. Johns Kronstadt Care Center in Castro Valley, where she lived for the last several years. She received excellent care there and made many friends with the very lovely and caring staff. She was 93. She was preceeded in death by her late husband of 67 years, Richard (Dick) F. Meissner. She is survived by her only child, her son, Ronald (Ron) L. Meissner; her daughter-in-law, Janet (Jan) C. Meissner; 2 dearly loved grandchildren, David L. Meissner, and Julie Gibbons and her husband Patrick; and her dearly loved great-granddaughter, Karma Gibbons. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dorothy was a warm and gracious soul, who loved life, people, traveling, entertaining, her wonderful garden and her beloved dogs. She had a sparkle in her beautiful blue eyes and a bit of a playful smile. She belonged to many groups, organizations and gave generously of her time and talents to all. She will be missed a lot by many. She was also preceeded in death by 2 brothers, Wayne (Pete) B. Peterson of Oregon and Bud Peterson of Arizona. She is also survived by her sister, Betty June Nauratil (Don) of Lafayette, Calif. A “Celebration of Life”luncheon for family and friends will be held on Friday, Aug. 24, at 1 p.m. at Willow Park Event Center, 17007 Redwood Road, in Castro Valley. There will be a private internment preceeding the luncheon. The Family is requesting a donation to your favorite charity or SPCA, in lieu of flowers.

RECUERO, Grace, a longtime resident of San Leandro, passed away at Eden Villa Assisted Living in Castro Valley on Thursday, August 16, 2012, at age 93. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Aug. 23, at Chapel of the Chimes Cemetery 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward.

SCHWESKA, Marybeth, of San Leandro, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2912, at age 81. She was a native of Springfield, Illinois. A service will be held at 11 a.m. this Saturday, Aug. 25, at Grissom’s San Lorenzo Chapel/Mortuary with a reception to follow at the Schweska home.

ZACKOWITZ, Audrey, of San Leandro, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012. Ms. Zackowitz was a 27-year employee of the Hayward Police Department and was an active member of the Northern California Juvenile Officers Association and the Alameda County Juvenile Officers’ Coordinating Council. Services were held at the Lone Tree Cemetery Amphitheater on Aug. 18.
