Thursday, September 20: Lupus Fibromyalgia Support Meeting

Friday & Saturday, Sept. 21-22: Christian Girls Conference

Saturday, September 22: Dusty Paws’ Dog Wash

Have your pet spruced up and enjoy the fun as Dusty Paws Rescue hold its fall “Dog Wash” fund-raiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday at Petco, 3735 E. Castro Valley Blvd., where animals looking for “forever homes” will also be on display.




Saturday, September 22: Start Smart Teen Driver Program


The Castro Valley Area CHP will be providing a Car Seat check-up and installation program from 7 to 11 a.m. this on Saturday at the district office, 21020 Redwood Road in Castro Valley. Call Officer Daniel Jacowitz at 510-581-9028 in advance to schedule an appointment. CHP Officers will be on  hand to answer traffic safety related questions.



Saturday, Sept. 22: Grandparents’ Day & Pancake Breakfast

The Aitken Community Center and the Kiwanis Club of Hayward-Castro Valley will hold their annual Grandparents’ Day Celebration & Pancake Breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. this Saturday at 17800 Redwood Road in Castro Valley. Students from the Kiwanis Key Club will cook and serve pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice and coffee. Sulphur Creek Nature Center will introduce some wild critters from 10 to 11 a.m. Bring the whole family! Tickets ($4 adults, $3 children) can be purchased in advance or at the door. Tuesday, September 25: Live Band Dances

The Hayward Area Senior Center at 22325 North Third St. in Hayward invites adults age 50 and up to Live Band Dances on Tuesdays from 1-3 p.m. The Billy Smith Band will play on this Tuesday. Thursday & Friday, Sept. 27-28: Public $5 Jewelry Sale

The wildly popular $5 jewelry sale, hosted by the San Leandro Hospital Auxiliary, will be held from 8-6 on Sept. 27, and from 7-3 on Sept. 28 in the 2nd floor classroom at San Leandro Hospital, 13855 East 14th Street. Friday, September 28: “Night in the Gardens” Fundraiser

The HARD Foundation invites you to a Sept. 28 garden reception featuring food-tasting and beverage-pairing in the Japanese Gardens at 22372 N. 3rd St. in Hayward from 6 to 7:30 p.m., followed by the production of “Grey Gardens” at 8 p.m. at the Douglas Morrisson Theatre. Saturday, September 29: Blessing of the Animals

Castro Valley United Methodist Church will hold its annual Blessing of the Animals from 10 to 11 a.m. on Sept. 29, in front of the church at 19806 Wisteria St., when Pastor Paul Harkness will bless your animals.  Animals need to be on a leash or in a carrier (children may bring their favorite stuffed animal to be blessed).
