BENZO, Antoinette A., of San Leandro, born February 3, 1918, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2012. Memorial services were held Sept. 16 at Chapel of the Chimes, Oakland.
CLAIR, Donald V. Clair, a long-time resident of Castro Valley and born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Donald passed away August 31, 2012, at age 90. He is survived by his wife, Vera Clair, of 26 years; his son, Robert Clair; and 2 brothers, Regis of Pennsylvania and Charles of Maryland. He was in the Marines for six years and had devotion to the USMC; he built a memorial in his front yard dedicated to the USMC. He was very active in the community and a member of the American Legion, VFW, Moose, Sheriffs Association of Alameda County, Rotary Club and Marine Corp League, to name a few. Services were held at the Transfiguration Catholic Church where he was head usher. Military funeral activities followed at Chapel of the Chimes where both the Marines and the American Legion honored him. Many friends and family gathered to pay tribute to him.
GIL, Ralph, a longtime resident of Castro Valley, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012. Funeral services were held Sept. 18 at Holy Angels Funeral & Cremation Center in Hayward.
JACKSON, Eleanor, who lived in Castro Valley since 1962, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2012, at age 85. A native of London, England, Mrs. Jackson worked at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital and for Pacific Bell. Services were to be private at Chapel of the Chimes.
PAGE, Robert A., of Castro Valley, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2012, at age 87. A native of Beverly, Massachusetts, Mr. Page was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. After retiring, he was a tireless volunteer for the Castro Valley Library. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Sept. 21 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 911 Dowling Blvd., San Leandro.
