Every year the Fratellanza Italian Club in Oakland hosts the All East Bay Italian Club Bocce Tournament, an event that draws the top-notch bocce teams from all the local Italian American clubs.

The Buon Tempo Italian American Club, which is headquartered in Castro Valley, entered two Men’s teams this year. Both teams played well against some tough competition. Team No. 2, consisting of Gene Klein, Jim Pineo, Al Pinocci, and Gianfranco Corti, started strong, reaching the third tier before going out on their second loss.

Team No. 1, with players Ken Martin, Jim Murphy, Frank Miraglia, and Jake Dalton, continued on to eventually finish in third place (eleven teams were entered) behind the winning Ligure Club team and the second place Fratellanza Club team.

The final game for the championship came down to an 11-11 point tie with Ligure scoring the 12th point to win the exciting finish.

The home courts for the Buon Tempo teams are in the Adobe Art Center Park where bocce is played every Wednesday and Saturday mornings at 10 AM. Everyone is welcome to play.
