The Castro Valley Sports Foundation recently presented checks totaling $10,187 to local sports programs.

Beneficiaries included teams from Castro Valley High School, Canyon and Creekside Middle Schools and several non-profit sports organizations. The CVSF accepted grant requests earlier in the year and these monetary grants were the result of those requests.

A majority of the grants went to Castro Valley High teams.  Those CVHS sports receiving funds from the CVSF included girls and boys golf, volleyball, swimming and diving, football, baseball, boys wrestling and girls basketball.

Canyon and Creekside each received $500 grants, in addition to a $352 grant to the Canyon and Creekside tennis team.  Castro Valley Little League, Castro Valley Soccer Club, Castro Valley Independent Sports League and Castro Valley Track Club also received grants.

The CVSF raised most of the money for the grants with its Hall of Fame banquet in April.  To learn more about the CVSF, its events and grant program, please visit www.castrovalleysportsfoundation.org.
