San Leandro Creek Cleanup Day
The Friends of San Leandro Creek are having an Creek Cleanup Day at Root Park on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed – individuals, families, students or service groups. Wear sturdy shoes, long pants and sleeves, and mosquito repellent, and bring gloves if you have them. Latex gloves, trash bags, snacks and drinks will be provided. Everyone must fill out a waiver form. Children under 14 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. The Friends will certify volunteer hours for community service.
Eden Garden Club
The Eden Garden Club kicks off its fall season at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, at the Moose Lodge, 20835 Rutledge Road (just south of Castro Valley Boulevard near Lake Chabot Road). Member June Wallace will present a slide show and workshop on setting up drip and soaker hose watering systems designed to save you time and conserve water. SL Hospital Auxiliary $5 Jewelry Sale
San Leandro Hospital Auxiliary will host the $5 Jewelry Sale on Thursday, Sept. 27, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Friday, Sept. 28, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the second floor classroom at San Leandro Hospital at 13855 East 14th St. in San Leandro. NARFE Packing Boxes for the Troops
San Leandro Chapter 511 of the National Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) will be packing boxes for the troops in Afghanistan at the Main Library, 300 Estudillo Ave., on Friday, Sept. 28, at 1 p.m. Come and help pack treats for the troops. You’re welcome to bring snacks, cosmetics, soup, books or calendars.
Keep Music Rockin’ Fundraising Dinner

Mulford Gardens Art & Music Festival
