San Leandro Creek Cleanup Day
The Friends of San Leandro Creek are having an Creek Cleanup Day at Root Park on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed – individuals, families, students or service groups. Wear sturdy shoes, long pants and sleeves, and mosquito repellent, and bring gloves if you have them. Latex gloves, trash bags, snacks and drinks will be provided. Everyone must fill out a waiver form. Children under 14 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. The Friends will certify volunteer hours for community service.

Eden Garden Club
The Eden Garden Club kicks off its fall season at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, at the Moose Lodge, 20835 Rutledge Road  (just south of Castro Valley Boulevard near Lake Chabot Road). Member June Wallace will present a slide show and workshop on setting up drip and soaker hose watering systems designed to save you time and conserve water. You’ll learn how easy it is to set up your own systems – from lawns to shrubs, to containers – thus eliminating hand-watering forever. Guests are always welcome; the first two meetings are free. SL Hospital Auxiliary $5 Jewelry Sale
San Leandro Hospital Auxiliary will host the $5 Jewelry Sale on Thursday, Sept. 27, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Friday, Sept. 28, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the second floor classroom at San Leandro Hospital at 13855 East 14th St. in San Leandro. It’s open to the public and includes unique costume jewelry, watches and gift items – all for $5 or less. All proceeds benefit volunteer-supported programs of San Leandro Hospital. NARFE Packing Boxes for the Troops
San Leandro Chapter 511 of the National Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) will be packing boxes for the troops in Afghanistan at the Main Library, 300 Estudillo Ave., on Friday, Sept. 28, at 1 p.m. Come and help pack treats for the troops. You’re welcome to bring snacks, cosmetics, soup, books or calendars.

Keep Music Rockin’ Fundraising Dinner
The Keep Music Rockin’ Foundation is hosting a fundraising dinner, “An Evening Among the Stars,” on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 5:30 p.m. at the San Leandro Senior Center, 13909 East 14th St. Enjoy a gourmet 3-course dinner created by Chef Michael Schibler and his culinary students from Eden Area Occupational Program with local restaurateur and chef Mike Wiesner of Paradiso. Mulford Gardens Art & Music Festival
The Mulford Gardens Improvement Association is hosting its first Community Art & Music Festival on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the park at 13055 Aurora Drive, across the street from Garfield Elementary School. Ping Pong for Players 50 and Over
Table tennis players 50 and over are welcome to play on the ping-pong tables at the San Leandro Senior Community Center, 13909 East 14th St. on Mondays from noon to 2:30 p.m. and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. No pre-registration required. Arroyo High 1990s Reunion

Calvary Lutheran Church Craft Fair

Stand Up for Davis Street Comedy Show

Grey Gardens at the Douglas Morrisson
The Douglas Morrisson Theatre, 22311 N. Third Street, in Hayward, presents “Grey Gardens” through Sept. 30, the humorous and heartbreaking Broadway hit musical about Big Edie and Little Edie Bouvier Beale, the eccentric aunt and cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m., plus a Saturday matinee on Sept. 22, followed by a post-play discussion. Kiwanis Club Meets on Tuesdays
The Kiwanis Club of San Leandro meets every Tuesday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at The Englander Restaurant and Pub, 101 Parrott St. in San Leandro. Lunch and an interesting speaker every Tuesday with  business and community leaders is the order of the day. Meeting for Adult Children of Alcoholics
Meetings for adult children of alcoholics are held every Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at All Saints Church, 911 Dowling Blvd. in San Leandro. Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACA) helps adults whose lives have been affected by family alcoholism.
