The history of Castro Valley will “pop-up” for one day in a free event this Saturday from 11 a.m . to 6 p.m. at the former Jordan’s Bookstore location, 3324 Village Drive. The pop-up concept – a short-term event set up in a temporary space – isn’t new, but adapting the idea to a history museum is. All the elements of a traditional museum – interpretive exhibits, interactivity, and lectures – will be available to the community. The Hayward Area Historical Society will set up a scanning station where the public can contribute to Castro Valley’s history by bringing in family photos of parades, houses, picnics, school functions, and family gatherings. The digital copies will become a part of the society’s collection. A special lecture on the history of Castro Valley will be at noon followed by a 3 p.m. roundtable discussion. The Pop-Up Museum extends its thanks to Crosspoint Realty Services, Inc. and Castro Valley Rotary for helping make this event happen. |
