Rash of Auto Burglaries
San Leandro police are cautioning residents to keep an eye out for burglars who are stealing thing from peoples’ cars – there have been over 75 reported auto burglaries in the past month.
There hasn’t been any pattern that police have identified, but the Washington Manor area seems to be getting targeted, according to Lt. Randy Brandt of the San Leandro police.
Brandt said that the police want to emphasize how important it is for people to keep there eyes open and report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.
Brandt’s tips for avoiding getting your car broken into are making sure the doors are locked and that no valuable items are visible inside the car.
All the copper was stolen from the air conditioning units of a 63,000-sqaure foot building on the 100 block of Doolittle Drive.
The theft was discovered during routine maintenance last Wednesday afternoon around 1 p.m., but it’s unknown when the crime actually happened, according to Lt. Randy Brandt of the San Leandro police.
