Cross Country

The Castro Valley Track Club offers youth cross country without dues. Practices now are 5-6:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at Canyon and Thursdays at Lake Chabot. Meets are Sunday mornings. The season ends with USA Track and Field National Junior Olympic Cross Country meet on Dec. 8. The sign-up information is online under “Join” at www.cvtrackclub.com

Castro Valley girls softball league will begin their 2013 registration in mid-October.

CVHS Fund Raiser

This year’sAnnual Meat and Seafood Sale fundraiser for the Castro Valley High Athletic Boosters’ Club is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 20-21, in the stadium parking lot on Redwood Road. Premium quality, USDA-inspected filet mignon, rib eye, New York steak, ground beef, top sirloin, chicken, sausage, prawns, tilapia, shrimp, scallops and Applewood bacon will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on both days. Everything is sold in bulk, so customers are encouraged to bring family and friends in order to maximize savings. A butcher will also be on site to cut meats to the specifications of the customer. Cash, checks and major credit cards will be accepted at the sale, which directly benefits the Castro Valley High School athletic program.
