Many of our marsh residents are most active around sunrise and sunset. Children ages 8 and up are invited to observe them at their best with a twilight hike to the Hayward Shoreline at 6 p.m. on Oct. 20, followed by a visit to the Interpretive Center to check out the animals that live in our four aquaria – including our leopard shark! Make a craft to take home. In the morning, enjoy a light breakfast with the birds, sharks, and other “beasts” that call our salt marsh home! $40. The Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center at 4901 Breakwater Ave. in Hayward invites children ages 3 to 14 to learn about the anatomy, ecological importance, and some fun facts about the sharks that live in the Bay, and get a “hands-on” experience as one of our resident leopard sharks swims in our touch tank. The public is invited to attend the Eden Garden Club’s Annual Fall Bazaar from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 22, at the Moose Lodge, 20835 Rutledge Road in Castro Valley. It will feature a silent auction and a fund-raising bazaar of jewelry, crafts, homegrown produce, plants, baked goods, gardening items and books.
