The San Leandro school board recently honored the efforts of “Project Concern,” an outreach program for homeless students and their families.
Project Concern of Alameda County received a $250,000 3-year federal grant to improve the quality of life for chronically homeless children by increasing their access to permanent housing and a variety of support services.
According to the San Leandro Unified School District, 98 percent of families in the program are eventually able to get out of homelessness.
Superintendent Cindy Cathey presented Consuelo Zuluaga, Ali Cannon, Debra Richardson and Trish Anderson with Certificates of Commendation for their outstanding work.
