Friday/Saturday, Oct. 26-27: Holiday Craft Boutique

Eden Medical Center will host its 27th Annual Holiday Craft Boutique with more than 30 vendors this Friday and Saturday in the hospital’s Conference Center. Shop for a wide variety of handmade artwork, soaps, knitted scarves, stationery, clothes and more. Hours at 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.


Saturday, October 27: CVHS 30-Year Reunion

Castro Valley High School’s 30-year Reunion will be held Oct. 27 at San Ramon Marriott. Space is limited. For info, call Sherri Tasto at 1-925-413-7794..


Saturday, October 27: Bake Sale / Dog Costume Contest

Dusty Paws rescue will hold a Halloween Bake Sale fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 27 at Pet Food Express, 3386 Castro Valley Blvd. A Dog Costume Contest will begin at 2 p.m. Stop by to purchase some baked goodies and stay for the fun of the animals in costumes.


Saturday, October 27: Fall Variety Concert

First Presbyterian Church at 2490 Grove Way in Castro Valley will celebrate the many musical talents of its church family with a free concert at 7 p.m. featuring the Chancel Choir, Praise Team, Joyful Children’s Choir, Chancel Bells, Songbirds senior choir, solos, duets. Sunday, October 28: Spaghetti Feed Benefit

The Buon Tempo Club will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti and meatball feed, with salad and bread, from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Castro Valley Moose Hall, 20835 Rutledge Road. Sunday, October 28: A Toast to the Arts

Curtain Call Performing Arts kicks off its 2012-2013 season with A Toast to the Arts fundraiser at The Vine Wine and Tapas, 135 Parrott St., San Leandro from 3 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 28. Live entertainment, silent auction, tapas and wine. Tickets ($35) are on sale now at 510-909-9516 or  Proceeds benefit Curtain Call’s  Annual Campaign Drive  and the California Conservatory Theatre Refurbishment Project.

Thursday, November 1: Parkinson’s Support Group

The San Leandro Parkinson’s Support and Information group will meet at San Lorenzo Community Church, 945 Paseo Grande, at 10 a.m. for exercise and the monthly meeting at 10:30. There will be an open discussion. For information, call 510-276-3119.


Friday, November 2: “Quilt of Valor” Class

San Lorenzo Adult school at 820 Bockman Road is sponsoring 10 quilters who will be teaching the same number of rookie quilters how to make a Quilt of Valor top that will be sent to U.S. service personnel and hospitalized veterans. Saturday, November 3: Human Rights Doc & Conversation

Join the Bahá’í community of Castro Valley for a screening of “Education Under Fire,” a 30-minute documentary about the Iranian government’s policy of denying its people the human right to education simply because of their beliefs, at the Castro Valley Library, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m.  For info visit or call 510-999-5901.


Saturday, November 3: Holiday Crafts Fair

Get an early start on your holiday shopping at the Holiday Crafter Vendor Fair in the Fellowship Hall of United Methodist Church, 19806 Wisteria Street in Castro Valley. More than 15 vendors will be selling homemade gifts. A Holiday High Tea will also be available in the Fireside Room for $10 per person with an assortment of teas, petit-fours, cream puffs and finger sandwiches.



Saturday, November 3: Marine Corps Birthday Breakfast

The Marine Corps League invites all Marines to celebrate our 237th Birthday with great speakers, raffle prizes and a traditional breakfast – chipped beef on toast – at 10 a.m. Nov. 3 at the Veterans Memorial Building, 1105 Bancroft Ave., San Leandro. Saturday, November 3: Annual Scholarship Bazaar

The Hill & Valley Women’s Club will hold its Annual Bazaar at the clubhouse at 1808 “B” Street in Hayward from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3 to raise funds for scholarships for local high school students. Bargains in collectibles, books, baked goods, jewelry, homemade candy, hand-crafted boutique and Christmas items, home decorations, and more.
