Defense was the key as the San Leandro Crusaders Jr. Midgets shut out the Concord Cobras, 52-0, and only allowed one first down.
The Crusaders started off with fullback Alavante Thornton taking the third snap on the opening drive and rumbling 54 yards for a score.
Quarterback Paxton Griffin connected with Aaqil Ansar for a 25-yard touchdown. And Jermaine Jackson came in as quarterback and scored on a keeper from the 25-yard line.
In the second quarter, Anthony Bostic scored on a 7-yard pass play, and scored again on a 6-yard run. Tailback Steven White scored on a 25-yard run with 2 minutes left before the half.
In the fourth quarter, Rayshaun Baker-Lynch scored from the 5-yard line.
On defense, Francisco Midkiff recovered a Concord fumble in the end zone for a score. Jermaine Jackson intercepted a Concord pass and returned it 54-yards to the Cobra 6-yard line.
The defensive standouts were Rayshaun Baker-Lynch, Steven White, Aaqil Ansar, Kevin Nguyen, Alvante Thronton, Jovani Raygoza and Jamil Harper.
The Crusaders play the last game of the regular season against the Napa Saints on Saturday.
