Patrick Cheek, who was given the ball 26 times, accumulated 169 yards, including a 68 yard touch down run in the first quarter.

The Castro Valley High School Trojans’ varsity football team hosted – and were victorious over – the Encinal High School Jets of Alameda 27-6 on Friday night.

The Trojans kept the ball on the ground as they rushed 58 times for 364 total rushing yards, while their stingy defense limited the Jets to 69 yards on the ground and 42 yards in the air.

Patrick Cheek started the Trojans’ scoring in the first quarter as he took a hand-off 68 yards for a touch down. The Trojans scored in every quarter.

Encinal’s only touchdown came in the second quarter, on special teams, as the Jets blocked a punt, recovered it, and ran the ball in for a 45 yard touchdown. After a botched extra point,

CV led 7-6, and added to it as Robert Taylor scampered for a 24-yard TD before halftime.

In the third quarter, Luke Huerta threw a 12-yard touchdown to Trevor Trammell. Nick Alfaro finished off the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 22-yard run for a TD.

CV moves to a 4-4 record, 2-1 in league. Their last home game is this Friday. Come out and support the Castro Valley High School football team as they take on the Hayward High School Farmers at the Trojans’ 2012 Homecoming game.
