Get an early start on your holiday shopping this Saturday at the Holiday Crafter Vendor Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of United Methodist Church, 19806 Wisteria St. in Castro Valley. More than 15 vendors will be selling homemade gifts, plus a Holiday High Tea!

Sunday, November 4: Arts & Crafts Fair

Artisans from 10 Bay Area synagogues, including Castro Valley, will stage a free holiday arts and crafts fair, open to the general public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 4  at Temple Sinai, 2808 Summit St. in Oakland (wheelchair accessible). Shop for one-of-a-kind hand-made jewelry, paintings, sculptures, arts, apparel, photography, accessories, Judaica gifts and more. Live music and kosher-style foods.

 

Sunday, November 4: Michael Herrera Guitar Concert

The Castro Valley Library presents a free performance of classical guitarist Michael Herrera this Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Herrera was one of only a few guitarists selected in his youth to train with maestro Christopher Parkening. Guitarists Reuben Rodriquez and Jose Enz will also perform. For more info, call 510-667-7903.

 

Monday, November 5: Diabetes Support Group

A screening of “Supersize Me” will be featured at the next meeting of the group at 5 p.m. Monday at the San Leandro Surgery Center. Health snacks will be provided. The public is welcome.

Thursday, November 8: Kiwanis Pasta Dinner

 

The Hayward-Castro Valley Kiwanis Club will host a pasta dinner, with salad, dessert and beverage, at the Aitken Senior Center, 17800 Redwood Road, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 8. Saturday, November 10: Veterans Memorial Dedication Dinner

VFW Post 9601 will host a dedication dinner for the Castro Valley Veterans Memorial, which will be dedicated the following day. The dinner will be held at the Moose Lodge from 6 to 10 p.m. (dinner at 7). Tickets, available in advance, are $18 for adults, $9 for children under 12.
