Dinner and Entertainment in Hayward

Readers’ Roundtable

The San Leandro Library Readers’ Roundtable book club will meet at the Main Library, 300 Estudillo Ave., on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. to discuss Never in My Wildest Dreams: A Black Woman’s Life in Journalism, by Belva Davis. Davis chronicles her own struggles and political awakening as she pushed against the boundaries for women and minorities in journalism to become the first black female news anchor on the West Coast.

Salem Lutheran Home Holiday Boutique

The Salem Lutheran Home, 2361 East 29th St. in Oakland, will have a Holiday Boutique on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Featured items will be collectibles, jewelry, gifts, books and nearly new items. The thrift store will also be open. Proceeds benefit activities for the residents.

Marine Corps Birthday Breakfast

The Marine Corps League invites all Marines to celebrate the Marine Corps’ 237th birthday with a traditional breakfast – chipped beef on toast – on Saturday Nov. 3, at 10 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building, 1105 Bancroft Ave. There will be great speakers, a raffle with plenty of prizes, and all the tradition and spirit of the Marine Corps. Amazing Bird Show at SLZ Library

SL Arts Council Exhibit

The Arts Council of San Leandro and the San Leandro Main Library present “People and Places of the Southern Hemisphere,” a group art exhibit of renowned Bay Area photographers. The show features the work of Kamau Amen-Ra, Charles Rhone, Edward Miller, Wanda and Tasin Sabir and Tumani Onbiyi. The art is on display through Nov. 30 at the San Leandro Main Library, 300 Estudillo Ave.
