Two Hayward men were shot at a Halloween party in San Leandro early Sunday morning.
Police were called to a large Halloween party at Timeless Countertops, a business on the 5000 block of Marina Boulevard around 2 a.m., according to Lt. Jeff Tudor of the San Leandro police.
When the officers arrived, they found two victims in their mid 20s with gunshot wounds to their lower bodies. The men were taken to the hospital and treated for their injuries, which were not life-threatening.
The party was thrown by the business owner and took place in the parking lot with about 100 people in attendance, Tudor said.
It’s unknown if the shooter crashed the party or if he was invited and it’s also not known if the shooter came specifically looking for the victims or if a disagreement broke out sometime during the party, according to Lt. Randy Brandt of the the San Leandro police.
Brandt said the shooting happened just as the party was breaking up and that witnesses and the victims haven’t been very forthcoming in giving police details.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male in his mid to late 20s, with a medium build. He was wearing dark jeans and a t-shirt at the time of the shooting and was armed with a silver handgun.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the investigating officer at 577-3238 or the police’s anonymous tip line at 577-3278.
