At long last, the Castro Valley Municipal Advisory Council has its own website.

Launched on Monday, lists the council’s seven members with brief bios and web addresses for each. It will carry calendars of upcoming meetings, meeting minutes, and other links and references.

“It is  a basic website with no bells or whistles, but it is a vehicle for people to contact us and to get documents or agendas,” said MAC co-chair Cheryl Miraglia, who had been pushing county officials for such an online resource for the past two years.

“There are still a lot of people who don’t know what the MAC is and what we do. This will be a great communication tool,” she said.

The MAC meets at the Castro Valley Library at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of most months to hear land use applications from homeowners and business people in Castro Valley.

General purpose meetings are held on the third Mondays of the month when the council hears reports from such organizations as the California Highway Patrol and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office on crime statistics and other quality of life issues.

The MAC members are all Castro Valley community members who were nominated by District 4 Supervisor Nate Miley and who were appointed to four-year terms by the full board of supervisors.
