Armed Passenger

A traffic stop led to a gun arrest early Sunday morning on the corner of Parrot Street and Washington Avenue.

After midnight, an officer stopped a Honda Accord with two men inside it for a traffic violation. The driver pulled over and the passenger got out of the car and ran away, according to Lt. Jeff Tudor of the San Leandro police.

Police set up a perimeter and started a search of the area.

An officer spotted the suspect in a nearby driveway and saw the man take something from his waistband and try to throw it under a parked car.

The man, a 22-year-old San Pablo resident, was arrested and police discovered the item he threw was a loaded 9mm  semi-automatic handgun that had been reported stolen.

Armed Driver

A police officer spotted a man driving erratically  on the 600 block of East 14th Street Sunday morning around 1:30 a.m.

The officer followed the car to the intersection of International Boulevard and 98th Avenue in Oakland, where he pulled the vehicle over, according to Lt. Randy Brandt of the San Leandro police.

The driver was arrested for reckless driving and his vehicle was searched. Police found a loaded semi-automatic handgun in the car.

Caught in the Act

A man interrupted another man who was trying to break into his car last Tuesday around noon on the 2100 block of East 14th Street.

The victim told police that he saw a man tampering with his car and confronted him.

The suspect then ran to a waiting car and drove off, according  to Lt. Randy Brandt of the San Leandro police.

The witness gave a suspect description to the cops and several officers were called to the area to start a search.

A motorcycle cop spotted a man matching the suspect’s description near the intersection of Maud and Evergreen avenues.

The suspect abandoned his vehicle on the 800 block of Juana Avenue and tried running away on foot, Brandt said.

The suspect, a 24-year-old Oakland man,  ran through several yards before being apprehended.

Police discovered that the car the man fled in was stolen, in addition to attempting to break in to the witness’ car.
