NICHOLS, Freda A., passed away in her home town of Castro Valley on October 30, 2012, after a short, sudden illness. She was 99. Born in St. Ansgar, Iowa, Mrs. Nichols and her husband Nick started Castro Valley’s first travel agency, Columbia Travel Service, in 1962, and later, Southland Travel Service in Hayward.
ROBERTS, Sandra Joan “Sandy,” of Castro Valley, passed away at her home on Monday, November 12, 2012, after a battle with cancer. She was 74. A memorial service was held Nov. 16 at the Jess C. Spencer Mortuary, 21228 Redwood Road, Castro Valley, followed by a reception at Dino’s Restaurant.
SCHREIJER, Johanna “Betty”, born in Indonesia on May 28, 1922, and a resident of San Leandro for over 40 years, Johanna peacefully passed away on November 11, 2012 surrounded with family by her side. She was a woman with many talents and enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, painting, music and dance. She is survived with much LOVE by her daughters their spouses/partners: Toeti and Vic Meyer, Nini and Cyrus Fouts, Eva Ferouge and Bob Dicken, and Johanna and Roy Doral; her son, Gerard Schreijer; grandchildren, Randy Taylor-Weber, Candace and Aaron Thompson, Tasha Fouts, Brandy Fouts, Deanna and Joe Florendo, Melissa and Rick Baca, Nicole and Gus Garcia, Jason and Christy Van De Graaf, Andrea Doral, Michelle Doral, Kirk and Leti Doral, Justin and Stacey Schreijer, Andrew and Rachel Schreijer, and Nini, Arie and Renny; great-grandchildren, Rowan and Annaka Thompson, Michael Taylor-Weber, Brandon and Nick Garcia, Kayla, Noah, Mia and Samuel Doral, Faye and Rene Florendo, Grace, Kate and Jane Baca, and Brinly, Magee, Nolan and Finnigan Schreijer. Betty’s family is deeply grateful for all the love and excellent care of the Oakcreek staff in Castro Valley. Thank you for all your hard work, love and patience.
