Robbed in the Shower

A man was robbed while he showered at a gym at the Bayfair shopping mall Sunday around 1:30 p.m.

The man was in the showers when a teen suspect approached him and snatched the gold chain from around his neck, according to Lt. Randy Brandt of the San Leandro police.

The suspect then tried to run out of the gym, but was stopped by employees before he could flee. The police arrived and arrested the teen for robbery.

Street Fight

Police were called to the scene of a large street fight on the 2600 block of Teagarden Street last Thursday around 2:30 p.m. and someone said they saw a gun.

When they arrived, the fight was mostly broken up and an officer spotted six teenage boys walking rapidly away from the scene, according to Lt. Randy Brandt of the San Leandro police.

When they realized the police were following them, the group of teens disbursed and eventually three of them were caught.

Two of the teens were arrested for hindering an officer (because they ran) and a third was arrested on a warrant that was out for his arrest.

Business Break-in

A business on the 1600 block of Neptune Drive was burglarized last Friday, around 4:10 a.m.

When they arrived on the scene, officers found that a glass door had been shattered, according to Lt. Randy Brandt  of the San Leandro police.

The owner said some things appeared to have been taken.

Prowler Arrested

A prowler was arrested after someone saw him acting suspiciously on the 400 block of Estabrook Street last Friday around 11 a.m.

A neighbor spotted a teen boy lurking around a home, according to Lt. Randy Brandt of the San Leandro police.

When police questioned him, he switched stores several times and didn’t have a reason to be on the property, Brandt said.

The teen was arrested for trespassing.

Begging Battery

A man was arrested for battery after he walked into a business on the 1200 block of Washington Avenue and panhandled for money last Friday around 2 p.m.

When an employee refused, the man hit the employee and fled the scene, according to Lt. Randy Brandt of the San Leandro police.  Officers found the man a few blocks away and arrested him.
