Armed Robbery

A convenience store on the 14800 block of East 14th Street was robbed by an armed man around 8:45 a.m. on Monday morning.

A clerk told police that an armed suspect entered the store and went up to the counter and demanded money, according to Lt. Randy Brandt of the San Leandro police.

The clerk handed over the cash and the suspect fled. The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20s, around 5-foot-9 with a medium build.

At the time of the hold up, he was wearing dark clothing and carrying a handgun.

Anyone with any information about the crime is asked to call the San Leandro police at 577-3278.

Smart Phone Snatch

An 11-year-old boy was the victim of an attempted robbery at Bayfair mall Sunday afternoon around 5:30 p.m.

The boy was using his smart phone when a suspect approached him and asked to see it, according to Lt. Randy Brandt of the San Leandro police.

The boy refused and the two got in a tug-of-war over the phone briefly before the suspect fled.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20s.

Anyone with any information about the crime is asked to call the San Leandro police at 577-3278.

Passenger Panic

A traffic stop led to an arrest near the intersection of San Leandro Boulevard and Lille Avenue on Sunday around 9:30 a.m.

An officer pulled over a car for a traffic violation and the passenger immediately became irate, according to Lt. Randy Brandt of the San Leandro police.

The female passenger behaved erratically and hit the officer when he tried to question her. The woman was arrested for resisting and battery of an officer.

Drunk in Public

A neighbor reported a disturbance on the 200 block of Arroyo Avenue on Saturday at  3 a.m.

The neighbor said a man was stumbling and falling down and causing noise in the neighborhood, according to Lt. Randy Brandt of the San Leandro police. When officers arrived, they found that the man was very intoxicated and placed him under arrest for being drunk in public.
