Songs for the Holidays

Usher in the holidays with Cantare’s! A Broadway Holiday. This concert series fuses hits from the best shows on Broadway with the most beloved songs of the Holiday Season. Performances run Dec. 7 to Dec. 9 at the California Conservatory Theatre, 999 East 14th St. in San Leandro. Tickets are $25 general admission and $22 for students/seniors and can be purchased on the website www.curtaincallperformingarts.org or by calling the box office at 909-9516.

Lucille Kline Memorial Holiday Tea

The Alta Mira Club, 561 Lafayette Ave. in San Leandro, invites you to the Lucille Kline Memorial Holiday Tea on Saturday, Dec. 8. There will be two seatings, 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $25. For reservations and tickets, call Linda Skinner at 610-0505.

Christmas Musical at Bethel Church

Bethel Community Church, 14235 Bancroft Ave. in San Leandro, is having a Christmas musical to benefit the George Mark Children’s House on Friday and Saturday, Dec . 7 and 8, at 7 p.m. Tickets for KWAT a Children’s Story are $10 for adults, $3 for children. For tickets, call 357-4130.

Hayward Animal Shelter Adoption

The Hayward Animal Shelter, 16 Barnes Court in Hayward is having its “A Home for The Holidays” adoption on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 1 to 5 p.m. Kittens, cats, dogs, puppies, bunnies, plus other critters will be available for a $20 adoption fee. Bake sale, raffle prizes, and a Christmas gift for each adopted pet. Dog licensing fees apply if you live in Hayward. For more information, call the Hayward Animal Shelter at 293-7200.

Hearing Loss Association

The Hearing Loss Association will meet on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 9:30 a.m. in the Kaiser Hospital Tower, Room 1200-C, Broadway and MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland for fun and friends and good food and learning from each other how to live a great life with hearing loss. Several members will tell us of their journey with hearing loss.

Dusty Paws Santa Photo Day

Dusty Paws Rescue is holding it annual Santa Photo Day fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pet Food Express, 3385 Castro Valley Blvd. in Castro Valley. Bring the whole family, dogs, cats, kids, and have their pictures taken with Santa Claus.

San Leandro High Arts & Crafts Show

Principled Academy Breakfast with Santa

The Principled Academy, 2305 Washington Ave. in San Leandro, is hosting a Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Pancakes and eggs, pictures with Santa Claus, arts and crafts, games and a Lego display.  Tickets are $12 for adults (15+ years), $6 for children (3-14), and 2 and under are admitted free. Eagles Bingo Luncheon

The Hayward Eagles Auxiliary is having its monthly bingo luncheon on Monday, Dec. 10, at noon at the Eagles Hall, 21406 Foothill Blvd., near I-580.  Hostess Maureen Kislingbury and her helpers will serve ham, hash-brown potato casserole, salad, rolls and dessert. The price is $7, which includes a bingo card.  There will also be a raffle, two tickets for $1. The proceeds will go to the Jimmy Durante Children’s Fund.

Super Seniors Holiday Tea

Super Seniors Holiday Tea will be on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church San Leandro, 1600 Bancroft Ave. Fellowship, food, fun and frivolity, followed by a sing-along of favorite carols. All are welcome.

Senior Holiday Dance & Luncheon

Feast on delicacies and dance to the sounds of the Treble Makers on Friday, Dec. 14, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Senior Community Center, 13909 East 14th Street. A limited number of reservations are available. Reservations are $15 for residents and $20 for non-residents. The Nutcracker

San Leandro’s own Conservatory of Classical Ballet will perform excerpts from the Nutcracker Ballet on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Main Library’s Carnegie Lecture Hall and Theater, 300 Estudillo Ave. For more information, call the Library’s Information Desk at 577-3971.

Boys & Girls Club Crab Feed

The San Leandro Boys & Girls Club, 401 Marina Blvd., is having its annual Crab Feed on Saturday, Jan. 12. Social hour begins at 6 p.m and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person, which includes all-you-can-eat crab, pasta, salad and French bread. Live music by “BackBeat” performing the music of The Beatles. The event is “assigned seating only.” To purchase tickets or for more information, call Bob Glotch at the Boys & Girls Club between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 483-5581. Proceeds support the San Leandro Boys & Girls Club, which provides educational and enrichment after-school programs for 1,200 children per day at twelve sites.
