“Dashing Through the Year,” a  Castro Valley High School Band Concert, will be presented at 7 p.m. today, Dec. 12. For tickets ($6-$8) see above.

“Holidays at the Movies,” a concert by the Canyon Middle School and Castro Valley High School orchestras, will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13. For tickets ($6-$8) see above.

Family Music Program featuring the Castro Valley Adult School Orchestra joined by guest dancers, singers and musicians performing selections of the season at 2 p.m. this Saturday, Dec. 15. Pre concert activities include the popular Instrument Petting Zoo and holiday crafts at 1:15 p.m. in the Lobby and Exhibition Room. For tickets ($7-$17) see above.

Free Holiday Band Concert, featuring the 60-piece Castro Valley Adult and Career Education Community Band under the direction of Kathy Maier, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19. Selections include  “Waltz of the Flowers,” “March of the Toys” from “Babes in Toyland,” “A Jingle Bell Fantasy,” “Klezmer Dances,” highlights from “Jersey Boys,” “Felix Navidad,” “Where Eagles Soar,” “A Jammim’ Caribbean Christmas,” and other pieces of the season, plus a sing-along. Refreshments will be served, compliments of Castro Valley Adult School. No tickets are required.





“A Christmas Carol,” the musical extravaganza, will be presented by Curtain Call Performing Arts Dec. 14-23 at the San Leandro Arts Education Center, 2200 Bancroft Ave. in San Leandro. Performances are Dec. 14, 15, 21 and 22 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 16 and 23 at 2 p.m. The Dec. 16 matinee is a special Family Day when  children K-5 are admitted for $1 with a full-price paid adult. Castro Valley Artists’ Exhibit featuring the works of Ellen Bailey and Barbara Berner, is being presented at the Aitken Community Center, 17800 Redwood Road in Castro Valley through Feb. 12.

John O’Lague Galleria, in Hayward’s City Hall at 777 B St., presents “Ten Women’s Perspectives” by Watercolor Connections – the works of Annie Boddum, Bonnie Crosse, Sheila Fimreite, Dawn Hyde, Dorothy Lyons, Grace Yun, Jan Matsuoka, Molly McKenzie, Sally Lampi and Nan Soldahl, through Feb. 1.

Foothill Arts of the Bay Gallery presents a Member Holiday Show and Sale featuring fine art and small artisan-made gifts created by Hayward Arts Council members, through Dec. 14, at 22394 Foothill Blvd. in Hayward. Hours: 10 to 4 Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
