The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a second home invasion robbery last week in Castro Valley, apparently by the same gang of armed men who committed a similar robbery on Dec. 7.

Sheriff’s Sgt. JD Nelson said a family of three on Pineville Circle in the Palomares Hills area were victims of a 1:30 a.m. robbery by four or five men wearing ski masks last Tuesday, just four days after a similar break-in on Cypress Ranch Road.

“These two robberies are definitely related,” Nelson told the Forum. “It’s the same scenario and description and almost a duplicate crime.”

In the most recent case, suspects forced the family to open a safe containing an undisclosed amount of cash and also took a number of valuables from the home.

Nelson urged residents to be diligent in locking doors and windows and making sure that home alarm systems are properly armed.

Anyone with information on either incident is urged to call the Sheriff’s non-emergency tip line at 667-7721.
