Free Holiday Band Concert, featuring the 60-piece Castro Valley Adult and Career Education Community Band under the direction of Kathy Maier, at 7:30 p.m. this evening, Dec. 19. Selections include  “Waltz of the Flowers,” “March of the Toys” from “Babes in Toyland,” “A Jingle Bell Fantasy,” “Klezmer Dances,” highlights from “Jersey Boys,” “Felix Navidad,” “Where Eagles Soar,” “A Jammim’ Caribbean Christmas,” and other pieces of the season, plus a sing-along. Refreshments will be served, compliments of Castro Valley Adult School. No tickets are required.

“Die Fledermaus,” Johann Strauss’ popular operetta, will be presented by the Castro Valley Arts Foundation at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29. For tickets ($17-$33) see above.




“A Christmas Carol,” the musical extravaganza, will be presented by Curtain Call Performing Arts through Dec. 23 at the San Leandro Arts Education Center, 2200 Bancroft Ave. in San Leandro. Castro Valley Artists’ Exhibit featuring the works of Ellen Bailey and Barbara Berner, is being presented at the Aitken Community Center, 17800 Redwood Road in Castro Valley through Feb. 12.

“En Plein Air,” an exhibit of oils by Attila Cziglenyi depicting scenes from his travels will be on display through Jan. 14 at the Castro Valley Library, 3600 Norbridge Ave.

John O’Lague Galleria, in Hayward’s City Hall at 777 B St., presents “Ten Women’s Perspectives” by Watercolor Connections – the works of Annie Boddum, Bonnie Crosse, Sheila Fimreite, Dawn Hyde, Dorothy Lyons, Grace Yun, Jan Matsuoka, Molly McKenzie, Sally Lampi and Nan Soldahl, through Feb. 1.
