The students of John Muir Middle School collected $3,169 and bought toys for needy families this year. Last Friday, an Alameda County Fire Department truck and van pulled up in front of Muir and the students loaded bag after bag of new toys. The fire department then distributed the toys to the San Leandro Boys & Girls Club and the Davis Street Family Resource Center. “We collected double the amount of last year,” said Muir teacher Leif Asper. “So it’s pretty impressive.” |
