Man in Black,” James Garner and band honor the life and music of the legendary Johnny Cash and his Tennessee Three on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at 7:30 p.m., presented by the Castro Valley Arts Foundation. Garner delivers Cash’s iconic sound, historical accounts and personal anecdotes about America’s most beloved singer-storyteller.  Enjoy this fun, toe-tapping trip down memory lane. THEATRICAL & MUSICAL PERFORMANCES

“Gruesome Playground Injuries,” by Rajiv Joseph, the first in Douglas Morrison Theatre’s Bare Bones new season of edgier pieces by contemporary writers, will be presented in a staged reading at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the theatre, 22311 N. ART GALLERIES & EVENTS

Castro Valley Artists’ Exhibit featuring the works of Ellen Bailey and Barbara Berner, is being presented at the Aitken Community Center, 17800 Redwood Road in Castro Valley through Feb. 12.



“En Plein Air,” an exhibit of oils by Attila Cziglenyi depicting scenes from his travels will be on display through Jan. 14 at the Castro Valley Library, 3600 Norbridge Ave.



“Mural Hayward,” at the Foothill Arts of the Bay Gallery, 22394 Foothill Blvd. in Hayward, from Jan. 17 to Feb. 23, celebrating the seven Hayward muralists with photos, a display of tools used, sketches of murals in progress and maps of all the murals.
