A family was disturbed by a man who tired to break into their home on the 2300 block of West 134th Avenue on Jan. 18 just before 1 a.m.
The man banged at the door and demanded to be let in, according to Lt. Randy Brandt of the San Leandro police.
The residents thought they were being robbed and called the police.
The police arrived and located a man matching the description of the intruder that the family gave a few blocks away.
It turns out that the man was heavily intoxicated and thought he was banging on his own door, as he lived in a similar residence a short distance away.
The man didn’t intend to burglarize the family, however, police did arrest him for being drunk in public.
The Bay’s BBQ restaurant in Pelton Center was burglarized last week.
Sometime between closing on Jan. 17 and opening on Jan. 18, someone broke into the restaurant, according to Lt. Randy Brandt of the San Leandro police.
When the owner arrived to open for business, he discovered that there were pry marks at the door and it appears the cash register had been tampered with.
