Palomares area resident Maribel LaLanne knows how fast thieves can target a car for its contents.

At  8 a.m. on Jan. 10, LaLanne and her husband, who were loading their car parked in their driveway, discovered an open door on their 2002 Toyota Sequoia and everything in the vehicle in shambles.

Stolen were a $400 pair of sunglasses, a $300 Kindle mobile reader and a white gold wedding ring bearing the inscription “Love Beyond Measure 07.07.07” belonging to her husband, Chris.

“We had it blessed on our wedding and it would be a blessing to have it back where it belongs,” she said. “I can’t believe I feel unsafe and violated in my own home. We’ve heard there have been a lot of break-ins in the Palomares area.”

LaLanne filed a police report and is hoping a witness comes forward with information about the incident.
