013113eThe 2013 Big Read will kick off on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 6:30 p.m. at the Manor Branch Library, 1241 Manor Blvd.

The San Leandro Library has picked Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston as this year’s novel. The Manor event features storyteller Muriel Johnson who will enthrall listeners with songs and folktales from various parts of the African continent.

After the program, all adults are invited to register for a book discussion group and receive a free copy of Hurston’s novel (while supplies last). Refreshments served. The program is free and no registration is required.
