Valentine’s Day at the Senior Center
Share a delicious “heart-y” lunch prepared by Chef Rick, enjoy fun games, raffle prizes and more at the Valentine’s Day party on Thursday, Feb. 14, from noon to 2 p.m. at the San Leandro Senior Community Center, 13909 East 14th St. Remember to wear red or pink. This special lunch is open to adults ages 50+. Reservations are $7 for San Leandro residents; $9 for nonresidents. Silent Auction at Wilson Elementary
The Wilson Elementary ASES Boys & Girls Club of San Leandro will host a silent auction at the Wilson Elementary School library on Friday, Feb. 15, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. All items were generously donated by local vendors and companies around the greater Bay Area. Light refreshments will be served. And all proceeds from the silent auction will go to the Wilson Elementary ASES Boys & Girls Club Program. Please come by and show your support.
Eagles Valentine’s Dance
The Hayward Eagles Auxiliary is hosting a Valentine’s dance on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Eagles Hall, 21406 Foothill Blvd. near I-580. No host cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. with roast beef, baked potatoes, salad, rolls and dessert, and a raffle. Tickets are $15. The proceeds go to the Max Baer Heart Fund. Dusty Paws Adoption
Dusty Paws Rescue will have an adoption at Pet Food Express, 3385 Castro Valley Blvd. in Castro Valley on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stop by to meet all the animals looking for a “forever home.” Volunteers and foster families will be on hand to answer questions.
Ramana Vieira to Play at St. John’s Hall
Ramana Vieira and her band will perform at the I.D.E.S. St. John Valentine’s Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. at St. John Hall, 1670 Orchard Ave. in San Leandro. Ramana is a professional Fado singer and resident of San Leandro, who’s relationship with Fado lies deep in her family history from Madeira Island, Portugal. Ramana will be joined by Stephen LaPorta on percussion, Alberto Rameriz on bass, Michael Mcmorrow on guitarra and 12-string classical guitar and Laura Boytz on cello. Kelly Park Trio

Oakland A’s Boosters Club
The Oakland A’s Boosters Club will meet on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Harry’s Hofbrau, 14900 East 14th St. in San Leandro. There will be T-shirts and lanyards for for those who join the club ($25 per year) and information about discounted A’s tickets available to members. The club is a fan organization recognized by the Oakland Athletics to promote the A’s and donate to the A’s Community Fund.
Year of the Snake Celebration
The San Leandro Public Library invites everyone to a free Lunar New Year celebration on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Main Library, 300 Estudillo Ave. Welcome the Year of the Snake with fun crafts, beautiful music, exciting dancing, and bright costumes. The amazing performances scheduled for this celebration will delight guests of all ages and include the lion dancers of Vovinam Viet-Do-Dao of San Jose, Dale Chung’s magic act, Ms. Wei’s Chinese Children Dancers from her Asian Cultural & Performing Arts Academy and performers from the Korean Culture Center in San Jose. Free Asian craft-making sessions for children will be hosted by the Asian Community Cultural Association of San Leandro. Ancestral Memories Quilt Exhibit
An exhibit of quilts by the African American Quilt Guild of Oakland is on display at the San Leandro Main Library, 300 Estudillo Ave. through the end of February. The “Ancestral Memories” exhibit honors the memory of the quilters families and heritage and is part of the library’s 2013 Big Read program.
Our Lady of Good Counsel Crab Feast
Our Lady of Good Counsel is having its annual Crab Feast on Saturday, March 2, at the OLGC Parish Hall, 2500 Bermuda Ave. in San Leandro. The social hour begins at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person, which includes crab, pasta, salad, bread and appetizer. The event is “assigned seating only” and no outside beverages allowed. There will be a raffle and dessert sale. For tickets and reservations, call Beth Garcia at 861-1753. Adult Children of Alcoholics
Meetings for adult children of alcoholics are held every Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at All Saints Church, 911 Dowling Blvd. in San Leandro. Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACA) helps adults whose lives have been affected by family alcoholism.
4th Sunday Breakfast at Veterans Building
American Legion Post 117 will be offering breakfast from 8 a.m. until noon every 4th Sunday of the month at the San Leandro Veterans Memorial Bldg., 1105 Bancroft Ave. in San Leandro. The menu will be eggs-to-order, bacon/sausage, hash browns, toast and coffee. Cost is $6 for adults, $5 for senior and veterans, and $4 for children under 12. Everyone is welcome.
Art Show at O’Lague Galleria
The John O’Lague Galleria presents “Art: Believe/Achieve” by artists and authors of the Diablo/Alameda Branch of the National League of American Pen Women through March 30 at the John O’Lague Galleria at Hayward City Hall, 777 B St.
