Our Lady of Good Counsel Crab Feast

Our Lady of Good Counsel is having its annual Crab Feast on Saturday, March 2, at the OLGC Parish Hall, 2500 Bermuda Ave. in San Leandro. The social hour begins at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person, which includes crab, pasta, salad, bread and appetizer.  The event is “assigned seating only” and no outside beverages allowed. There will be a raffle and dessert sale. For tickets and reservations, call Beth Garcia at 861-1753. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Readers Roundtable

The San Leandro Library Readers Roundtable book club will meet at the Main Library on Saturday, March 2 at 2 p.m. to discuss Moby-Duck: The True Story of 28,800 Bath Toys Lost at Sea, by Donovan Hohn. Moby-Duck is a journey into the heart of the sea and an adventure through science, myth, the global economy, and some of the worst weather imaginable.

John Muir E-Waste Drive

The John Muir Middle School Band/Orchestra is having an e-waste collection drive on Saturday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school parking lot, 1444 Williams St., to raise funds for the band/orchestra members to attend a Disneyland trip in May. Dusty Paws Rescue Adoption

Dusty Paws Rescue is holding its monthly adoption at Unleashed by PETCO, 699 Lewelling Blvd. in San Leandro, near Safeway in the Greenhouse Marketplace, on Sunday, March 3, from 1 to 4 p.m. Stop by to meet and greet the animals looking for a home. Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions.

SL Schools Band and Orchestra Concerts

The public is invited to the San Leandro schools band and orchestra festivals coming up in March. The Orchestra Festival will be on Tuesday, March 5, at 7 p.m. in the Arts Education Center, 2200 Bancroft Ave., featuring string orchestra students in sixth through twelfth grades from Bancroft and Muir middle schools and San Leandro High. The Band Festival will be on Thursday, March 14, at 7 p.m. in the San Leandro High gym, featuring band students in sixth through twelfth grades from Bancroft, Muir and San Leandro High. Admission is free. Donations are accepted.

IDES of Alvarado Street Crab Feed

I.D.E.S. of Alvarado Street is having its annual crab feed on Saturday, March 9, at 790 Antonio St. in San Leandro. No-host bar at 6 p.m. and dinner begins at 7 p.m. with crab, pasta, salad, wine, garlic bread and ice cream. Tickets are $40. For tickets and reservations, call 635-3580 or 385-2847.

Alta Mira Club Irish Dinner

The Alta Mira Club, 561 Lafayette Ave. in San Leandro, is having an Irish dinner on Saturday, March 9, which will benefit the Northern California Youth Leadership Seminar (NCYLS). The social hour starts at 5 p.m and dinner begins at 6 p.m. with Irish entertainment, including the Extended Roots Band, and drawings. Tickets are $20. Adult School Art Exhibit

The 12th annual art exhibit by San Lorenzo Adult School students, “Shared Perceptions,” opens at the Alameda Historical Museum, 2324 Alameda Ave. in Alameda on Sunday, March 3, and runs until March 29. Admission is free. A reception will be on Saturday, March 9, from noon to 3 p.m. Door prizes will be given away. Original paintings, greeting cards and bookmarks will be for sale. Corvallis School Pancake Breakfast

The Corvallis School PTA is having a pancake breakfast and book sale/exchange on Saturday, March 16, from 8 to 10 a.m. in the cafeteria. Bring a gently used book to exchange. Kids and adult books will also be for sale. Tickets are $5. Everyone is welcome.

St. Patrick’s Day Dinner

The St. Leander Conference of St. Vincent de Paul Society is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Dinner Fundraiser on Saturday, March 16, at Ryan O’Connell Hall with corned beef or chicken, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, rolls, dessert and coffee. The social hour starts at 5:30 p.m. and dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available after Mass on March 2, 3, 9 and 10, or at the parish office. The deadline to buy tickets is March 12.

Arroyo/Marina High Class of 1983

The Arroyo/Marina High Class of 1983 will have its 30th Reunion on Saturday, May 18, at 6:30 p.m. at the Willow Park Event Center in Castro Valley. Rotary Club Meets on Wednesdays

The Rotary Club of San Leandro meets every Wednesday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Sequoyah Country Club, 4550 Heafey Road in Oakland. Lunch with business and community leaders and get involved in community and international service projects. For more information, call Carole Rogers at 772-1669.

Join the Marines...for Coffee

Don’t be just a former Marine, join other Marines, past and present, once a month on the second Saturday (except in November) at 0900 hours at the Veterans Memorial Building, 1105 Bancroft Avenue, San Leandro, following the tradition of “Once a Marine, Always a Marine,” for coffee, doughnuts and friendship. 4th Sunday Breakfast at Veterans Building

American Legion Post 117 will be offering breakfast from 8 a.m. until noon every 4th Sunday of the month  at the San Leandro Veterans Memorial Bldg., 1105 Bancroft Ave. in San Leandro. The menu will be eggs-to-order, bacon/sausage, hash browns, toast and coffee. Cost is $6 for adults, $5 for senior and veterans, and $4 for children under 12. Everyone is welcome.

Ancestral Memories Quilt Exhibit

An exhibit of quilts by the African American Quilt Guild of Oakland is on display at the San Leandro Main Library, 300 Estudillo Ave. through the end of February. The “Ancestral Memories” exhibit honors the memory of the quilters families and heritage and is part of the library’s 2013 Big Read program.

Rotary Club Community Grants

The Rotary Club of San Leandro is accepting applications for community grants. Rotary distributes approximately $10,000 per year with individual grants up to $5,000.
