CAP Holds Annual Test at OAK
The Civil Air Patrol held its National Check Pilot Standardization Course at the Oakland International Airport earlier this summer.

Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, is a nonprofit organization with more than 56,000 members nationwide. CAP performs 90 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions and saved 103 lives in fiscal year 2007.
Business is Booming for BART
There’s a lot of gloomy talk about the economy but business has never been better for BART.

More people than ever are commuting on Bay Area Rapid Transit, said Bob Franklin, a member of the BART board of directors. But the increase in passengers – up to 380,000 riders a day – is presenting other problems for BART.

“Daily ridership is up now,” Franklin said. “People in some areas are fighting for a BART station, but here in San Leandro, you have two stations.”
